VW MK1 Gt built in South Africa in 1983. Privately Imported from South Africa in 2016. Car was fully rebuilt by a friend I met on Facebook. He knew someone I knew from school. Gert Swanepoel build the car. I bought it in 2020 October. It was one of my favourite VW golf’s as a kid.
I grew up with VW’s. It was like a Holden and ford in Aus.
Current specs are:
- 2litre 8valve cross flow with twin side drafts
2. 320 Degree cam
3. 6 speed manual Gemini box
4. Porsche bucket seats
5. Half gage
6. Spare wheel delete.
I love this car so much. The car was featured in a magazine in South Africa called the speed and sound. And also featured in an Australian magazine called VW Australia.
