Hi all, welcome to our new car club. All of the founding members and I hope that this Club evolves into all we envisage it to be, that being, a club of car enthusiasts and their families who love to get together, oooh and aaaah at each other’s interest vehicle of choice, have a lot of laughs and make some great new friends.

I think it is fair to say most clubs have high expectations of their members with rules about how many runs to go on, what to wear and how much fundraising is involved. We are going to be a little different. Whilst there are certain rules and regulations we must adhere to as a not for profit organisation, we will strive to keep things as simple, easy-going and fun as we can.

Our first run was the weekend of the 14th – 16th August where we stayed at
Seaworld Resort. Although the weather was a bit challenging at the start of the weekend with a few showers here and there nobody’s corvette leaked which was a bonus. It was great to meet up with one of our new members Mick Voss and his mate Kanga for dinner on Friday night where he made us all laugh til our sides hurt with his jokes and stories. Saturday morning was our run to Seven82Motors at their new digs at Nerang. Worth a look if you haven’t been. If you haven’t and wish to go, think about going in the next few weeks as Ben the owner is soon going to revert to appointment only hours. We then had lunch at Hinze Dam where we waited out a rain storm before heading back.

Saturday night was full of laughs and good food at the Burleigh Heads Hotel for dinner then catching a ride with probably the best taxi driver any of us have ever experienced. The guy was a true legend not only putting up with us ratbags in the back but telling jokes and making us all laugh.

Beautiful blue sky awaited us on Sunday. After an amazing brekky at the resort some of us went to see the early dolphin show a perk of staying at the resort which was lovely.

We then cruised home and while traffic was heavy at the coast it gave everyone else in their everyday cars an opportunity to feast their eyes on us which if we are all honest makes our smiles a little bit bigger.

Huge thank you to our secretary Sharron and treasurer Mandi for their careful planning of our first big event, in particular having the forethought to reserve parking at the front of the resort which, given the long weekend, we could not have done without. Everything went off without a hitch, great work girls.

That’s all from me for my first report. Looking forward to taking this journey not just with my fellow curvettes and potbellies who started all of this but our new curvettes and potbellies and the ones we are yet to meet.

Always remember, Never Let a Dream Drive By.
